Marjolein van Dingstee studied mostly at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. After two years of studying with Victor Liberman and Keiko Wataya she continued to study with Alexander Kerr, with whom she finished her Bachelor and later on received her Masters as well. In between those two degrees Marjolein studied for a year at the New England Conservatory in Boston, USA, with James Buswell. She received a Fulbright grant for this.
Besides Marjolein took part in many different courses and festivals, both as an individual and as a chamber musician. She was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center Festival in the US for two summers. She took courses with Thomas Brandis and Lydia Mordkovitch and had chamber music lessons with ao Nobuko Imai, Norman Fischer, Paul Katz and Joel Smirnoff.
As a substitute Marjolein works in practically all major symphony orchestras in the Netherlands and also in smaller groups like the Nederlands Kamer Orkest, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and Asko Ensemble. In the past Marjolein has been concertmaster of different orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestras, the Youth Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales in Switzerland and several amateur and semi-amateur groups. As a substitute Marjolein works as a principal in professional orchestras as well nowadays.
Marjolein plays on a violin (presumably Joh. Theodorus Cuijpers, around 1750) that she has on loan from the collection of Dutch string instruments of Eduard van Tongeren, violinmaker in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
