Ewout van Dingstee studied cello with Harro Ruijsenaars and Michel Dispa at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam , obtaining his first degree in 1995. He finished his studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe ( Germany ) with Professor Martin Ostertag in 1997.
Ewout van Dingstee was principal cellist of both the Netherlands Youth Orchestra and the Dutch National Youth Orchestra. He played in several professional Dutch orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1997 he joined the Orkest van het Oosten/Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. Ewout van Dingstee took master courses cello and chamber music with Laszlo Mezö (Bartók Quartet), Colin Carr, Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet), Paul Katz (Cleveland Quartet), Siegmund Nissel (Amadeus Quartet), Nathaniel Rosen, Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), Milan Škampa (Smetana Quartet) and others. He performed as a soloist with several Dutch orchestras, for example in Johannes Brahms' Double concerto for violin, cello and orchestra. Ewout van Dingstee is a regular performer in chamber music concerts. He plays over 50 chamber music concerts a year and he made concert tours in Europe and the United States .
Ewout van Dingstee plays a Joh. Theodorus Cuijpers (1787) cello on loan from the collection Dutch string instruments of Eduard van Tongeren, violin builder in Haarlem , the Netherlands.
